Met Gala 2025 was one for the books.
This year’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, honored the deep legacy of Black dandyism—how fashion has long been used as a form of resistance, self-definition, and cultural pride. For the first time in over 20 years, the Met put menswear at the center of its Costume Institute exhibition—and it didn’t hold back.
The red carpet felt like a love letter to Black elegance. Rihanna revealed baby #3 in a corseted look only she could pull off. Zendaya stunned in a sculptural white ensemble and wide-brim hat. Colman Domingo and Stormzy brought their own flavor of sharp tailoring and confidence. Black queer designers had a huge presence too, and the individuality in their work spoke volumes.
Inside, daffodils and galaxy projections set the tone for live performances from Usher and Stevie Wonder (!!). Even the unplanned moments—like guests twinning in Bianca Jagger-inspired white suits—felt magical. And yes, AI-generated images of Katy Perry in fantasy gowns fooled half the internet. Wild.
More than just a fashion event, this year’s gala felt intentional and culturally grounded. A celebration of legacy, creativity, and the future of style.
