GOLDEN GLOBES 2021 WINNERS AND HIGHLIGHTS!

1st March 2021

Congrats to all this year’s Golden Globe Award winners. Our very own Brits Daniel Kaluuya ( Judas and the Black Messiah) Emma Corrin and Josh O’Conner ( The Crown) plus John Boyega ( Small Axe) all won big this weekend. The diverse winners didn’t however take away from the debate around the lack of shows and movies fronted by black/brown cast and crew that were forgotten. The biggest upset being Michaela Coel’s outstanding ‘I May Destroy You. To make matters worse it was revealed earlier this week that the group of journalists that decide who wins are all white, again not what we want to see in 2021!

The night’s big award for best drama film – went to Nomadland,  starring the awesome Frances McDormand. Director Chloé Zhao grabbed best director – becoming only the second female winner in the history of the Globes, shocking that the last time was in 1983 when Barbra Streisand won the award.

It was also a ig night also for Sasha Baron Cohen and Borat Subsequent MovieFilm, winning best musical or comedy film. The Crown, The Queen’s Gambit, Schitt’s Creek, and Andra Day  for The United States vs. Billie Holiday.

The late Chadwick Boseman won a Golden Globe award for his role as Levi in ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.’ His wife Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman accepted the award on his behalf, getting emotional while speaking about what her husband would have thought about winning the award.
