31st January 2021
“You can murder a revolutionary, but you can’t murder a revolution.”
Expect powerful performances from Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield in ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’. Currently premiering at ‘Sundance”. Telling the story of the black revolutionaries in the late 1960s who fought back against racism through their activism. It’s hard not to compare our recent ‘Black Lives Matters’ marches with this piece of history and ask the question ‘how much equality is there even now in the world?
Inspired by true events the film follows the stories of Fred Hampton, chairman of the Illinois division of the Black Panther Party played by Kaluuya and William O’Neal an FBI informant played by Stanfield, who is hired to help bring down the Black Panther Party including Hampton. Produced by Ryan Cooglar ( Black Panther) and Directed/Cowritten by Shaka King and Will Bearson expect high emotions, passion, anger, need for acceptance, corruption, racism and justice!
Check out Daniel Kaluuya sit down with Tom Holland recently and talk new movies, industry and what inspires them.
