“I’m different’ thats what Danielle Mansutti said in her Vlog and boy did she touch me. Seeing this girl I have never known about till today, which is nuts as she has over a million subscribers, a lot more then little old me made me feel a little less like a weirdo and in a world of my own. She spoke honestly from the heart about playing the ‘role’ and trying to fit in rather then doing what comes natural to her and reflecting her personality honestly.

I love style, music but just like Danielle I also am super creative and passionate about creating content visually that will inspire, motivate and support you. Depression, anxiety and low self esteem is something I have experienced and I have days when I’m lost and feel totally alien to the people around me and what I’m doing. People will say but you are pretty, girls love your style, what does that even mean?????

It makes me so sad that when Danielle talks about wanting to do videos on bullying and depression she already knows most people won’t subscribe to that. Today Cheryl posted a video as part of the new ‘Childline’ campaign, it was powerful and super important. But instead of reporting about the cause and commending Cheryl for using her voice in such a huge way, I saw headlines like ‘Cheryl shows’ her compassion for children’ ahead of her pregnancy??? They still made the whole story around her pregnancy, which she is yet to confirm.  We have a crisis in our country and the world where many young people feel lost, unhappy and have no where to turn, and it’s a problem that stems across all generations.

It’s become the norm for all of us to give of this pretty girl with great hair in that perfect pair of killer boots vibe, but it’s not real. Don’t get me wrong I love dressing up too but there is a smart, creative and super passionate girl in me that is far more important then what I look like. Let’s not be afraid to show we are smart and not just beautiful!!
