We have waited a whole 2 years for June, Janine and Serena to return to our screens in the most disturbing series ‘Handmaid’s Tale’. Starring the awesome Elizabeth Moss as a woman determined to free herself, the other handmaids and find her daughter. Gilead is a place of fear where the population is controlled by people who imprison women to bear them children during a fertility crisis.
The story is packed with twists and turns with so much to take in and be left wondering about. The Handmaid’s Tale is based on Margaret Atwood’s book, published in 1985. Margaret had a cameo role in The Handmaid’s Tale series, playing an Aunt who slaps Offred (Elizabeth Moss) when she hesitates in taunting Janine at the Red Centre; she appears in the first episode.

Attwood took inspiration from, among other things, the rise of the Christian right in America during the 1970s and ’80s, the Islamic revolution in Iran in 1979 and, much less well-known, a woman in 17th century New England named Mary Webster
In season 4 June is sick of hiding and now is at war against Gilead. She is rallying the handmaids to support her in this fight for freedom and justice. The only thing that can stop June on her mission is her daughter Hannah. It’s fair to say ‘The Eye’ and evil commanders know that, and will reach for that kryptonite whenever possible.
Please watch 1, 2. 3 and then 4, or you will not enjoy or understand the full experience.
