BOND PUSHED BACK TO 2021!

5th October 2020

MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, today announced the release of No Time To Die, the 25th film in the James Bond series, will be delayed until 2 April 2021 in order to be seen by a worldwide theatrical audience.

“We understand the delay will be disappointing to our fans but we now look forward to sharing No Time To Die next year.”

Directed by ‘True Detective’s’ Cary Fukunaga, it marks the first time that an adaptation of Ian Fleming’s most famous body of work will be penned by a female writer, all hail the awesome Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag). Alongside Craig, Lea Seydou, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Wishaw and Jeffrey Wright who are all reprising their roles – and even Christoph Waltz’s ‘Blofeld’ is set to return in the action-packed feature.

BOND 3

BOND 1

This time, retired James Bond is set to return to active duty as a favor to his CIA friend, Felix (Wright), and help him deal with a masked supervillain, Safin (Rami Malek), and his armoury of dangerous new technology. While on Safin’s trail, Bond will not only fight for his own life but also discover secrets buried by his beloved Madeleine Swann (Seydoux)

James Bond has always been known for getting in trouble over women and Bond, uncovering mysteries revolving around Seydoux’s character, is an identical connection between Sam Mendes’ takes on this character, and the Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace movies, at last linking the series altogether.

BOND

What is very different, however, is how the women will be presented in this one. Bond’s fair share of criticism revolved around its portrayal of women, often reducing them to no more than prized possessions. This time, putting Seydoux right in the conflict, as opposed to wrapping the plot around the death of her character, directly contrasts with what happened to Eva Green in the first two instalments. Hiring a woman to write this film – and one as talented and so quickly recognised in the industry as Waller-Bridge – is a step forward and a chance to revitalise the series.

BOND

There is a lot of speculation regarding Bond’s fate, and the potential replacement of retiring Craig (who is hoping that the 25th Bond will be his swan song) with a newcomer, Nomi, played by Lashana Lynch. A brave move, and a much-needed one, would set the series on a new course and potentially save it from the so-called franchise fatigue. As of yet, this is nothing more than just a rumour, but it will be interesting to see how this all turns out on a big screen!

billie Eilish Bond song

The awesome Billie Eilish has creating the theme this year, she joins the likes of Shirley Bassey, Adele, Alicia Keys, Jack White and Sam Smith. Billie is the youngest ever musician to write the song with Finneas O’Connell her musical partner who also happens to be her brother.

“It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way,a huge honour…..James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

The song is dark, emotional and perfect for the film!
