JUST TRY AND STOP THEM….

10th July 2019

Five Feet Apart is a tough heartfelt story of how illness doesn’t have to define you..

You still love, dream and want to enjoy life regardless of your diagnosis. Starring Haley Lu Richardson as seventeen-year-old Stella and Cole Sprouse as Will, both in hospital with CF.

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects your lungs and contact with others that have it.  It can lead you to get a life threatening infection from something as simple as a cough or a sneeze. Imagine this you are in hospital with CF and fall in love with another patient who has it too. Stella and Will have two choices, stay away from each other and fight their natural instincts for love and wanting to hang together or find a way to be together.

FIVE FEET APART

Stella is determined to be as normal as she possibly can be. She works out as long as they are 5 feet away apart from each other they are not at risk.

At the heart of this film are love and intimacy. Also, a reminder that we are not defined by our struggles but how we cope with them. If you can laugh, hang with a mate and create some incredible memories together you keep living your best life. Director Justin Baldoni had a tough job in his debut feature film, the balance of representing CF on the big screen fairly and accurately alongside sharing a real story of love and sacrifice. His passion to share a story like this shows someone who has a desire to educate, represent and create much-needed stories on the big screen.

FIVE FEET APART

One of the stand out scenes in the film is when Stella and Cole go on a date in the hospital and end up sitting with their feet in a pool. The intimacy at that moment without the human touch is beautiful. We often confuse being intimate with a loved one with sex and touching. It’s more emotional with a deeper connection, this film embodies that.

This is a sweet intense but also refreshing look at young love and how we cope when tough things are thrown at us.
