Christopher Robin is finally out this weekend and I can guarantee you a beautiful, heartfelt, funny and incredibly important movie.
Let’s get the controversy out of the way straight away.. Yes it’s been made by Disney but it’s not all bubble gum and sickly sweet. To my surprise Director Marc Forster has made a movie that is for you, me, kids and our parents too.
When I caught up with him at the London premiere he told me it was so important to create a film that his daughter, his mum and he himself would love.
The story is loosely based around the real Christopher Robin who was estranged from his father and eventually in real life distance himself from the ‘Winne The Poo’ books. I have to be honest when I watched ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’ last year I was left in tears and finding myself wanting to learn more about the little boy the books were based on and what had happened to him.
I can tell you this version is not so dark but leaves you really thinking about life and happiness. Marc said something beautiful to me when we chatted that totally sums up the spirit of the movie “Even weeds are flowers too once you get to know them”……
He reminded me that we are now living in a self obsessed social media bubble and are forgetting those basic values in life like having fun and spending real time with people you love.
Ewan McGregor is the star of the movie and does such a great job as Christopher Robin. His wide-eyed expressions and connection with Pooh and the gang is magical to watch. With support from the awesome Hayley Atwell, young actress Bronte Carmichael and the brilliant Jim Cummings plus Mark Gatiss.
I would love you to check out the movie especially if you are a little lost in this matrix we call life. Plus you will reminisce and dig out all your old ted’s and toys. I know I dragged out my oldest ted’Mr Showbiz) and found myself being a big kid.
Don’t forget to smile and do stuff that just makes you happy.
