Part of the reason I love being a presenter, interviewer and DJ is times like this! A new artist comes along with no ego just great energy that makes me and the rest of the world pay attention. It’s funny though Shawn Mendes is only 17-years old?? WTF??
A kid to most right but this guy has worked his little bum off to become quite the force in Pop music. He is more Sheeran then Bieber plays guitar and writes his own songs. In this day and age for a young artist to not be manufactured and controlled is a rare thing and so flipping refreshing.

Shawn has the potential to do even greater things in music and I think also reminds aspiring young musicians that playing instruments and songwriting is a talent to work on and being in music isn’t just about fame, money and girls.
I have a great funny relationship with him, he is kinda like a little brother I banter with and he gives me as much as I give him. I have a lot of respect for him and have total belief in him to kill it over the next few years. He has toured with the likes of Taylor & Ed plus can count producers like Diplo as fans, the famous producer told me ‘Stitches’ was one of his fav songs and would love to work with the young Mendes. Shawn’s second album is finished, from talking to him and hearing new songs it will showcase a much more sophisticated grown up edgy sound. The first single off the album is called ‘Treat You Better’ and sounds like a smash!
