Congratulations to the awesome nominees for this year Bafta Rising Star.
Past winners have included James McAvoy, Daniel Kaluuya and Letitia Wright.The 2021 list features some of the freshest talent in independent film over the last 12 months. Welsh star Morfydd Clark wowed us in ‘Saint Maud,’ while Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù was terrifying brillant in ‘His House’. Young stars Bukky Bakray from ‘Rocks’ and Conrad Khan for ‘County Lines’ also gave us emotionally fuelled beautiful performances. While Kingsley Ben-Adir was mesmerising as Malcolm X in Regina King’s directorial debut ‘One Night in Miami.
This award is special as it’s voted by the public and not a bunch of industry insiders.
This year’s all-British line-up of EE Rising Star nominees were selected by a group of industry jurors including Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander, actress and BAFTA Film Committee member Jo Hartley and BAFTA-winning actress Naomi Ackie.
