Don’t be fooled by the barbie-like visuals with all the pink and Paris Hilton/ Britney Spears playlist, this is a funny very dark edgy thriller! You will find yourself thinking should I be laughing right now or hiding under my cushion? Cary Mulligan is so good as troubled Cassie, she plays her in such a passive aggressive refreshing way on screen, very rarely do we get to see women show their negative emotions like this on film, boy did it feel good to see!
Cassie is that badass you really don’t want to mess with, she’s on a mission to expose perverts, predators and the guys from back in college who are now professional doctors living their best life! Is this a ‘Me Too’ movie?
Kinda but it’s so much more Director/Writer Emerald Fennell was determined to make a film that was as entertaining as it is relevant to the times we are living in right now. It will trigger some of us who will identify with inappropriate behaviour and what consent really means, not what you think it means when a person is drunk or vulnerable. The film has such a diverse awesome cast including Adam Brody, Bo Burnham and Laverne Cox, who join the fantastic Carey Mulligan!
‘Promising Young Woman’ is the ultimate revenge movie, it hits cinemas in Feb in the U.K and streaming sites a few weeks after!
