PIA MIA INTERVIEW, MUSIC, MOVES AND MONEY!

We sat down with Pia over zoom and chatted about music, empowerment, confidence, hustle and staying focused in a tough industry that is constantly changing.
Musician, actress and model Pia Mia is about to release her highly anticipated new album. She had had what feels like a musical break, but with changing labels, new management and being independent budgeting her own projects for a while she is now in a place of creative freedom and able to share her music the way she has always wanted.
When you google Pia Mia or check out her Instagram you will see this woman is adored by millions with a famous celebrity friendship circle including Bella Thorne, Kylie Jenner and Sofia Richie, but the reality is very different. She grew up in humble beginnings on the island of Guam with her family. At a young age Pia moved to L.A with her mum by her side, while leaving most of the family back in Guam. She would spend the next few years going back and forth between L.A and Guam, only a young teen. Hustling with her music and using acting as a side project that could lead her to where she really wanted to be in front of an audience with a mic. Now at 23 she has found creative ways to secure a healthy living for both herself and family, but this did not come easy. This is not a woman that just lives for the gram she has responsibilities and behind that softly spoken voice and well put together image is a focused young woman creating opportunities to be financially secure while pursuing her dreams as a performer.
Early videos of Pia singing are all over youtube and have amassed millions of views and landed her now with her second record deal at Republic Records home to Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Drake. Her new manager Troy Carter is super influential and she is hoping for a bigger global audience by signing with him. He’s been Lady Gaga’s manager and Spotify’s global head of creator services, but Carter is now co-founder and CEO of Q&A, a new music company focusing on distribution, management and label services for artists.
With huge hits behind her including ‘Do It Again’ ‘Touch’ and ‘I’m A Fan’ she has managed to work with heavy weights like Chris Brown, Jeremih and G-Easy.
This year Pia has released new music including ‘Princess’ self shot at home and the R&B infectious ‘Hot’. The lockdown period has not stopped her making moves, instead encouraged her to adapt and continue creating while finding new ways to make revenue.
She has recently joined ‘Only Fans’ a platform that you pay to subscribe. This is another way for Pia to make money while having a direct link with her fanbase. A great way to share your music, brand or message with an audience that sometimes is split between numerous platforms bombarded with thousands of other people selling 100 things. Pia Mia is all grown up, and knows what she wants, this Princess plans to elevate to Queen status.
