The 82nd Golden Globes last night was hosted by Nikki Glaser, it was packed with laughs, surprises, and some unforgettable speeches. Nikki didn’t hold back in her opening monologue, roasting everyone from Ben Affleck to Glen Powell in a way only she can. The crowd were playing around!
In the film categories, Emilia Pérez stole the spotlight, taking home four awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Karla Sofía Gascón, who played the lead, gave a heartfelt speech about identity and resistance that had everyone clapping. Meanwhile, The Brutalist cleaned up on the drama side, winning Best Motion Picture – Drama, along with Best Director for Brady Corbet and Best Actor in a Drama for Adrien Brody. Oh, and Demi Moore? She won her first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her role in The Substance. Can you believe it?
On the TV side, Shōgun was the big winner, snagging four awards, including Best Television Series – Drama. Kieran Culkin got a ton of love (and a trophy!) for his supporting role in A Real Pain, and his hilariously tipsy acceptance speech was one of the night’s highlights. Plus, there were some big honors—Viola Davis got the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Ted Danson received the Carol Burnett Award. Absolute legends.
And, of course, the fashion was everything. Zendaya turned heads in a look inspired by Joyce Bryant, while Seth Rogen and Catherine O’Hara brought the laughs with their Canada-themed bit. All in all, it was a killer night and the perfect start to awards season. Looks like Emilia Pérez and The Brutalist might be the ones to watch at the Oscars! Full list of winners are below!
