The nominations for the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards, celebrating the very best in film over the past year. A total of 42 films received nominations today.
The ten films with the most nominations are:
12 nominations for Conclave
11 nominations for Emilia Pérez
Nine nominations for The Brutalist
Seven nominations for Anora, Dune: Part Two and Wicked
Six nominations for A Complete Unknown and Kneecap
Five nominations for Nosferatu and The Substance
The BAFTA 2025 nominations are out, and as expected, the lineup is packed with stellar films and performances. Leading the charge is Conclave, racking up a whopping 12 nominations, including Best Film and Outstanding British Film. Ralph Fiennes is also getting his due with a Leading Actor nod for his role as a cardinal navigating the intense politics of a papal election. Right behind it is Emilia Pérez, with 11 nominations. This unique musical crime drama has grabbed a spot in Best Film and Best Film Not in the English Language, and Selena Gomez even snagged a Supporting Actress nomination. Definitely one to watch!
Meanwhile, The Brutalist has nine nominations, including Best Film and Original Screenplay, and Adrien Brody is up for Leading Actor. Dune: Part Two and Anora are tied with seven nods each, the former making waves in technical categories like Special Visual Effects, while Anora is competing for Best Film. It’s shaping up to be a close race.
But, of course, it wouldn’t be awards season without some major snubs. Denzel Washington, despite widespread acclaim for his role in Gladiator II, didn’t get a Supporting Actor nomination. Shockingly, Denzel has never been nominated for a BAFTA before—how is that even possible? Nicole Kidman also missed out for her performance in Babygirl, and Daniel Craig didn’t land a Leading Actor nod for Queer. Perhaps most surprising, Angelina Jolie’s portrayal of opera legend Maria Callas in Maria was completely overlooked.
On the flip side, there were a few curveballs. Sebastian Stan got a Leading Actor nomination for his portrayal of Donald Trump in The Apprentice—definitely a bold choice. Saoirse Ronan also scored a surprise Leading Actress nod for her role in The Outrun, adding an unexpected but welcome twist to the race.
With the ceremony set for February 16 at the Royal Festival Hall in London, there’s plenty of time for more buzz to build. David Tennant is hosting, so you know it’s going to be a great show. Whether you’re cheering for Conclave or rooting for an underdog, it’s shaping up to be an exciting BAFTA season!
