What an incredible time to be alive in America today!
The country is waking up to a new President, Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Yesterday they honoured and celebrated the inauguration with some incredible performances from Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, John Legend to Bruce Springsteen and a young Poet who stole the whole show Amanda Gormon. We have picked some of the highlights for you to enjoy below!
Lady Gaga looked incredibly honoured as she performed the National Anthem.
Jennifer Lopez stripped it right down by performing ‘This Land Is Your Land’ with a little of her own song ‘Loud’ thrown in! The audience were thrilled to hear her sing in Spanish at one point, the translation, “One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
The day really belonged to Amanda Gormon, the young 22 year old Poet’s self penned words touched everyone there and those at home including Oprah who said she was in tears watching. “When day comes, we ask ourselves where can we find light in this never-ending shade?
Kamala Harris becoming the new Vice-President, becoming the first woman in history – as well as the first woman of African American and south Asian descent in this position! moments of her hugging and fist pumping Barack and Michelle Obama bringing so much joy to everyone.
The moment President Joe Biden took to the podium and shared his mission for change and unity, while reflecting on the struggles Americans have felt in 2020.
Katy Perry joined performers including John Legend, Justin Timberlake and Bruce Springsteen at what felt like the official after-party hosted by Hollywood ledge Tom Hanks.
This was a special moment former Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama reflecting on the past and future for America!
