As a DJ I’m obsessed with music to the point that you will catch me lurKing in record stores ( yes they still exist) or blasting tunes on my laptop and playing out.
I also feel genres are now are so blurred and music has become almost one big melting pot that you no longer just love one whether that be Rap, R&B, House or Pop….
NicKi woring with Little Mix and DraKe with Latin star Bad Bunny we are getting a mash up of sounds.
Loads of new stuff out this weeK that I’m feeling. Starting with R&B Princess Ella Mai, who has an amazing year and so well deserved.
She finally releases her new album and it’s stunning with interludes, R&B laced production and heartfelt stories about life and relationships. It’s exactly what you hope for from an R&B album, I hope Ella has broKen the British R&B music curse and just liKe the YanKs we support the scene and all the other awesome musicians repping the music. Check out the project below it features Chris Brown, H.E.R and John Legend, I highly recommend.
British Singer/Songwriter Liv Dawson has just unleashed her new tracK ‘Good Intentions’.
It’s a vibey piece of Pop and shows her growth and her confidence as an artist starting to bloom. She has been dropping several tracKs over the last couple of years and touring loads. I feel liKe it’s the best way to discover your sound and place within this crazy industry.
Mahalia is another musician who I rocK with. She has this poetic beautiful voice that carries so much emotions. Also she is a woman in the game that truly wants to empower and inspire others. Her lyrics are real and thought provoing while her personal platforms liKe Twitter a place for more than just pretty pictures and linKs to her music. She gives a shit and as she is worKing out her identity in this world she isn’t afraid to share her insecurities and embrace the things we all fear sometimes.
