STYLE IS MORE THAN WHAT YOU WEAR….

6th April 2018

Style is much more than what we wear or see on the catwalk during Fashion Week. It’s all around us from the architecture we walk past every day, to the beautifully designed restaurants we eat at. Let’s not forget the most important place though … the one we call home.

What does your flat, house or if you are lucky enough to really be living life… your castle look like??

Is it a extension of your personality? Does it represent who you really are? It it gorgeous to look at, modern, victorian, boho and packed of character?

Or is it like my place, somewhere you literally rest your head and shower at. Packed with way too much stuff with little space.

T&W1

I recently went to see someone to help me with my life long insomnia. I have literally always blamed it on my creativity and super over active imagination. Also I much so much company at 3am with all my mates up recording music, writing or over-thinking that somehow I have turned something bad into something that represents a special club of passionate workaholics.

Well thanks to my sleep and well being expert I realise that is all crap, and a sorry excuse for my lack of looking after myself. We are not a super elite club of X-Men & Women… sorry guys… instead we just have a very bad balance of work and rest.

It’s really that simple no sleep = tiredness and bad health. I will be talkin more about this in a special feature on my quest to becoming more sleeping beauty and less vampire over the next few months.

Right now back to your home being your shrine!

The theory makes a lot of sense when you think about it. When where you live is stunning, relaxed, comfortable and inspiring it becomes a place you love and spend more time at.

While on the opposite end if it’s packed off stuff, dark and everywhere you look are signs of work not only will you dread your journeys home but when it comes to bedtime all the reminders of work will keep your mind active and you will be unable to relax.

So I’m on a mission to create a bedroom that has eventually 0 distractions and reminders of work i.e. laptop, chargers, books, iPad, hard-drives, Headphones, mobile…. etc…..

I plan to replace everything in my room with chilled and beautiful things. Super comfy extra pillows, a duvet that makes me want to not move. Also invest in some pretty artwork , not too much just enough to make me smile and maybe feel inspired.

My dressing table less technology and more awesome accessories that I want from frames with messages to cute/edgy low maintenance flower pots and sweet boxes for my jewellery and make-up.

Now it’s not about breaking the bank or restyling everything straight away. Start with one room at a time or pick the one room that you really feel has been neglected and create a mood board with colours and items you like.

You can discover the most beautiful places right under your own nose when you start exploring. I found the incredible Tailor & Forge, it was literally 20min from where I live and fell head over heels in love.

No Tailor & Forge are not two fit guys ( although the two guys that run it.. are easy on the eye and soooooo dope)  focus it’s a curated Homeware & Gift Boutique filled with inspired products, crafted for your home and lifestyle. Set up by two awesome people that have styling written all over them buzzing with passion and good energy.
