AIMEE LOU WOOD AND JODIE WHITTAKER SIT DOWN WITH THE REAL LIFE MUMS OF TOXIC TOWN, IN HEARTBREAKING AND TOUCHING REUNION!

On the day the series premiere on Netflix, Toxic Town actors Jodie Whittaker and Aimee Lou Wood can be seen reunited with mothers Susan McIntyre, Tracey Taylor and Maggie Mahon to reflect on the real story behind the drama.

Netflix’s new drama Toxic Town is a gripping four-part series based on the true story of the Corby poisonings, one of the UK’s worst environmental scandals. The drama delves into the fight for justice led by families whose children were born with severe birth defects due to toxic waste mishandling in Corby, Northamptonshire. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, a large-scale redevelopment of the town’s old steelworks led to the release of dangerous chemicals, which contaminated the area. After years of legal battles, a 2009 court ruling finally linked the council’s negligence to the children’s health conditions, marking a landmark victory for the affected families.

The series boasts an impressive British cast, with Jodie Whittaker and Aimee Lou Wood taking on lead roles as two determined mothers fighting for accountability. They’re joined by Claudia Jessie and Rory Kinnear, with each performance capturing the emotional weight of the real-life events. Written by Jack Thorne and directed by Minkie Spiro, the show strikes a balance between the devastating impact of the scandal and the resilience of the community, delivering a powerful and moving drama.

Toxic Town is now streaming on Netflix, bringing this important story to a wider audience.
